Introducing The Warwick Devils

Always a favourite with crowds and players alike, the Warwick Wolves are proud to introduce our very own cheerleading squad - the Warwick Devils! We'll let them tell you all about themselves :

"The Warwick Devils are the University's Cheerleaders. We cheer for the Warwick Wolves on a regular basis, performing the cheers we have learnt during practice times. Cheering for the games is a lot of fun and is a great way to support the American Footballers!

Practice times are twice a week at the Westwood Dance Studio. The Cheer practice takes place on a Thursday between 6-8 and this is where we learn the cheers to perform at matches and where we practice stunts, jumps and routines to perform at the National Cheerleading Competition.

On a Friday between 6-8 we have the Dance Cheer class which combines dancing with cheering! We also learn routines for the Pom Dance section of the competition, combining dance routines and pom poms! The Warwick Devils were Double National Champions in 2004 and also won the award for Contribution to Cheerleading. The Competition is lots of fun (think Bring It On) and we dont hold tryouts so if you attend regular practices you have a good shot at making a team! Not only do we cheer at matches and competitions but we also perform at Union events such as Top B,One World Week and Varsity Score.

As well as cheering we also know how to have fun. We often have socials on a Wednesday before Score and this often involves fancy dress and and drinking games (although you shouldnt feel obliged to drink!) We also sometimes have joint socials with the Wolves as well. At Christmas and special events we often go out for meals and at the end of the year we have a big social where we give out Cheer Awards for hard work! The Warwick Devils are a really welcoming club and cheerleading is a great way to kep fit whilst having a fun at the same time!"
